If i may intercede on a possible crisis... Since I see you are more of a GM fan, (which there is no problem with at all, truly) I would like to persuade you to check out Chevy Caprice ex cop cars. They have the good old 350 in them and leave extensive room for modifications such as hood scoops, stereos, and the like, and also are easily turned in Impala SS clones, with the addition of LS-1 fuel injection (although NOS is cheaper if you just have a carb!) and the trick 18" rims that came with those cars.
From personal experience, these years of automobile are typically overpriced because they're GM and for some reason people go bonkers over them, so there is an inflated price unless it's junk or rusted. The Caprice cop cars don't have the same appeal, so usually you can find one for significantly less, with pretty much the same doodads and company name. You will also get a newer vehicle, and you will get all the perks having an ex cop car can bring.
The trunk on them is smaller, however, than that of my '94 Crown Vic (in which three people can reside comfortably), so you can't as easily run massive equipment, but it is still large enough for most applications.
I know I wish I had bought one of these, as the fuel injection on it hurts the opportunity for performance mods (cheap ones anyway) and I can't work on the ***** without a 500 dollar computer!
Good luck,
