ok some really noob questions...

I need help understanding what all these numbers mean. When looking at amps, I noticed this for an amp i was interested in.

Max power watts per channel: 1500W @ 2 ohms

500W RMS (continuous) x 1 @ 4 ohms, bridged

250W RMS (continuous) x 2 @ 2 ohms

125W RMS (continuous) x 2 @ 4 ohms

Now I want to buy either alpine type E or type R (two 12" subs)

Type R

Handles up to 1500W peak power (500W RMS)

Impedance: 4 ohms

Frequency response: 25Hz - 500kHz

Sensitivity: 85d

Type E

Handles up to 600W peak power (200W RMS)

Impedance: 4 ohms

Frequency response: 26Hz - 1kHz

Sensitivity: 89dB

Can anyone tell me what all of these numbers mean? like if i hook up two type E's at 4ohms will they each be getting only 125 watts? how does an amp get rated at 1500 peak if the highest it says it puts out is 500? Anyway, if anyone could explain what the heck all these numbers mean I would appreciate it.

first rule of car audio, never look at max rating. NEVER. RMS basically means how much a sub can handle daily. If could handle the max for a short period of time but if you put that wattage daily, then say bye bye to the sub.

I think those type r's are dual voice coils so then if you buy two then you could either hook it up to a 1ohm load or 4 ohm load. So that amp is not stable at a 1ohm load so you'll have to hook it up to a 4 ohm load in which it says that it will give 125 watts per sub but if you bridge it, then each sub will get 250 watts.
