to this question.

i am installing my new comps in my truck doors. when i make the mounting ring out of 1/2" mdf, will the door panels be able to fit back on ok or would i have to make the hole on the door bog enough for the mount to come through???

are you not using the speakers that fit inside your door or something?

if not you will need them, but not so THICK. If not, then why do you have to even have them

no im not, im putting the mid woofers in the door panel (old speakers used to be in dash 4x6) so i should use 1/4...

i would make a pod... it snot gonna fit... ive got the same truck there is litterally NO space

as u can see there the bottom half is made by particle board... and the pocket on the panel makes it so u cant mount ne thing lower unless u ahve a different plan than what i was thikning of

gonna have to make the pods man. you can use the 1/2", but will have to also think about the speaker having enough rm inside the door panel. pods would be the best way to go man

yea i was going to mount them right there because in the back their is a hold that is pretty decent for the speaker but i realized there would be no room for the mount ring lol....

well pods as in the kick pods?? or as in fiberglass pods in the same area??

either or. I personally would put the wood there were you plan on it, and bring it out as little as space will allow, and the carpet everything the same color. I do not like pods in the floors, but, to each his own.

can that pocket be removed?

im probably gonna remake my whole door panel so i havent really checked it out. if ur trying to mount it BEHIND the doorpanel so it isnt visible... i wouldnt. itll block the sound big time. if your cutting a whole in the panel than who cares just cut ur hole and mount it as you want... cover it all up with a nice grille or fabric
