i just bought my own car it is a 1998 civic cx (it barley has anything its not even power steering. nor does it have a tachometer and its a 5spd. what should i do to the before i put a turbo kit on to it???and does anybody know how much it might be for the turbo kit???

 
im still debating with myself if i should buy a turbo kit. because i know its complicated and it costs alot of money. but umm what is something cheap that i can make my car faster. i am buying a hks racing exhaust system, and a short ram air intake.

 
dont waste your money on bolt ons for that motor save for a ls-vtec or b16 or gsr swap. on that car it would be a really easy swap. You could **** near have an lsvtec for the cost of the hks exhaust and intake then youd need mounts and other miselaneous things. but it would pay off in the long run to be patient.

 
i would do that but my dad isnt goin to let me just do an engine swap. its my first car and he said i could soupe it up. but nothing big. like engine swap or turbo or supercharger. what about a fuel management system???

i dont get this people want me to buy my own car so i did. and now people are saying that i should of let my dad buy me a car. i dont know. just can any body help me. plz on how i can make my honda civic cx quick. with boltons and electronics. i would really appreciate a posotive response. plz help me. im trying to get my shit str8ened out here.

 
Ok, bolt ons only help out a decent amount if you give them a decent motor to work with. If your dad wont let you do a motorswap( I would recommend an H22A prelude motor myself) or a turbo then you are screwed. You can buy an intake, headers and exhaust and the only noticeable difference is the sound. Maybe a little power. If you can get a turbo then I wouldn't recommend running more than 7-9 pounds of boost on stock internals. Then I would invest in a Hondata ECU and get the **** thing tuned professionally. The whole setup with proper tuning is about 4-5k. Turbo's give you on average 7-8 hp for every pound of boost. Sooooo....thats between 60-80 hp gain. Now, for the same price you could go with the swap which will give you maybe a lil more power and the ability to add a turbo and other mods for a hell of a lot more power than you will get out of your current motor. Just remember, bolt on's are only as good as the motor you put them on. Hope this helps.

 
No matter what you do a Civic CX will never be fast. The CX is a base model car and will never breath well enough to justify a turbo anyway- the head is too restrictive. Don't waste a dime on that motor- if it doesn't have 2 cams it isn't worth modding.

 
so you really dont think that little base engine can take a turbo???even after i get lots of air to it???? thx guys for the help. i was thinking that i could take the turbo as long as i keep the psi really low????
