Head units pre outs tend to clip at about 3/4 full volume. 22/24 is definitely past that and it should distort around there if not before that. If you're using the internal amp on the head unit, you should be distorting even sooner than that.

Don't know about the X693 I have an last year model KDC-X791 because it has 5V preouts...I have never had distortion on it!

If you set everything correctly, you shouldn't have distortion with any head unit.

Don't you think E1012 is much better~~for you know, 1091 doesn't contain a antenna, of course ,you can buy one, that can cost you more.

Why is eonon so cheap? and how come I never heard abou tthem? How are they compared to a Kenwood DDX unit?

I would NOT buy an eonon.I'd buy used (and I do) before I put some new junk in my car. The popular stuff around here tends to be alpine, pioneer, kenwood, and eclipse. I'm kind of nervous about the kenwood, but I know someone that only runs kenwood and has been using then longer than I knew about car audio.

Stay with a reputable brand and shop for the features you want. There is not an ideal hu out there anyways.

Why didn't anyone mention a 9887? They go for 300 nib on ebay with ipod cord.

My Excelon receiver distorts at 31 out of 35 when not amped, it doesn't distort when amped. But mine is a KDC-X592.

P.S it dosnt have a pre-out i used the high level.
