Whats the lowest that amp can handle two channel mode. I kindof find it odd that the sub blew that fast. Unless it already had problems.

The amp is stable to 0.5 stereo.

I'm guessing the rating the OP is using is peak.

why should I think that when you can prove it?

ok, so i talked to the local car audio shop.

The sub is dead, 3 of the 4 voice coils are fried. one, is fine.

The amp should be able to push out 800w rms per channel at 2 ohms. I have 2 kicker L7 15"s that are dual 4 ohm voice coils. I should be able to run them parrallel at 2 ohms per channel. Car audio shop agrees this hsould be safe for my subs and amp.

Anyone disagree?

Although running a amp rated up to 4400w rms at 800 rms is like driving a Ferrari with a governer at 45mph. long as it works, im fine.

Did you buy that sub used? If its rated for 5kw with quad VC's, I don't see how 4kw would kill it instantly.

It was probably fried when he bought it. Unless he did something stupid like run it full tilt clip on his kitchen table without a box... oh, wait...

HA HA.. it was not hooked up. only hooked up in my car in a box.

I took a gamble and took my sub apart. The wires going to the voice coils were burnt, the voice coils are completly black. even some of the wires were crispy. It was dead.

So i want to put the Kickers back in, but im worried about killing them. I thought the MA Audio sub was good to go and it died FAST.

Just turn down the gain.

It would actually be running 1600watts as it would be 2 ohms per channel.

What does your electrical consist of?You need alot of power to get all those amps have to offer.

i only fry tinsel leads when the gain is jammed way to far up. my 401sx which is basically that same amp. Likes the gain all the way, I havent had one problem with it at .5 ohm daily. I was thinkin bout buying a 802sx.... im not going to be runnin at .5 ohm still though definitly 1 ohm. If your interested in selling that let me know.

I have it all hooked up to the two Kickers. It sounds good. Not as loud as the previous amp, but it is SOOO much clearer and crisper. Also, the gain is down, cause i am too worried about frying my subs.

Read the gain setting tutorial and set your gains with a DMM.Then you shouldn't have any worries.
