oh noes..... more shallow mount subs

wait for the jl's they are gonna be the best shallow mount sub out there
I think so too, right now I heard Kicker actualy makes the best shallow mounts.

At least JL will be best untill TC makes theirs, but they will be a bit different and serve different purposes. The JL will be the thinest but the SMT should have the output closer to that of a W6 or TC 1000. They won't be cheap though due to the huge piece of NEO needed to make them, if they ever actualy make them. I'm not holding my breath.

I like JL's idea of going with a wide coil though.

when are they supposed to come out???

The Exile XTEC is supposed to be really nice. I've heatd a lot of good things about it. Actually, it was one of the first shallow-mount subs I ever saw. I was looking for a shallower sub about a year ago when I first joined the forum, and the XTEC was the most recommended. My system ideas went a different way, but I would not hesitate to pick up a pair of them.

I sell the exile ones at my shop and have done a few installs using them in small enclosures under the seats in trucks. The smallest I have went so far was .25 cubic feet per driver after displacment. They hammered pretty good all things considered. They wont win a spl comp but they sound good and keep up well with what most people would consider a daily driver system

imo the pioneer/premier makes the best ones. i have 2 12'' in my reg cab s10 and they sound really good for what they are. they even sound good with my box and its only 0.5^3 per chamber sealed. i would recommend them to any one.

has anyone ever ran a ported enclosure on a shallow mount sub?just wondering how it would sound?
