One of the guys at my company has a similar BMW. He likes it, but is getting rid of it because it has 150k and he said the upkeep is just too much now. He is an engineer and does a good deal of work himself, but it is still costing him.

Go with the lower mileage.

My daily driving is about 40-50 miles a day roundtrip. I can afford maintinance for the BMW, i've got a great idea of what it's going to cost me to do regular maintinance however it's the unexpected surprises im afraid of. The TransAm is the more viable option but the *** looks of the BMW is hard to deter. I was lookinat at an M3 like preston stated but the insurance made it a bad option to go with; car is also more expensive. These two cars i have 2/3 of them in cash and pay the rest of them off in less than a year without a problem...

If the BMW doesn't have pristine service records on it, I'd say hell no.

Plus the cracked bumper and curbed wheels means to me that its been beat on...

I would pick TA just because of how low the miles are, I dig the BMW but it really depends on if you are more of a 'show' or 'go' person, myself I would rather go fast and not have to worry about having to refinance my house if something breaks on the beemer.

Also,

The ***** Am isn't too much faster than that 540i, 0-60 difference shows at only .4 seconds of difference. Is the luxury worth .4 seconds? I'd say so. I would much rather get the BMW to be honest but i am going to look into service cost and maintinace records and everything of that sort aswell. Thanx for the input and please keep it comming. I'll be hitting up the bimmer forum s soon; I already know everything as far as me being comfortable with buying a f-body as i've already owned one and taken the WHOLE thing apart at one time or another. (engine, differential, tore the interior when i sound deadended the whole thing, little things here and there.. ect. I doubt i'd work on the BMW......
