If something on the BMW breaks they will charge an arm and leg to fix while the ***** am has low miles and parts are way cheaper.

The thing with the cracked bumper that makes me wonder, why was it not repaired? As stated earlier, a car that nice should be taken care of right away. It sounds as if the owner had a slick car, drove it hard, messed it up, and couldn't afford to fix his **** up. That alone would make me not buy it. If he didn't have the ambition to get the crack fixed, who says oil was changed regularly, or brakes, tires rotated, fluid flushes?

And the TA, for the age, is ****ing mint. There are cars less than half that car's age with terible interiors and banged up bodies. I'd jump on that just for the condition of it. A nicely tuned TA can turn quite a few heads. Not as many as the BMW, but it will definitely garner some attention.

Plus they start to fail at 50,000 to 80,000 miles on higher power American cars like the one you are looking at....

that is more or less the same ****** in the vettes vipers, new cobra R mustangs (I think)have, the only diff is the viper model has more splines, but that stock t-56 can handle 400-450(gm) 600(viper)lbs of tq. where as the early LS1 (mmmmmmmm....LS1, gotta love em) made a respectable 340 lbs tq, not to mention it is one of the finest manual gear boxes out there (perhaps the reason SO many hotrodders that drop MAJOR bucks; drop t-56s in there rides)...... why do you think it is utilized in cars such as the new Z51 vette, the v12 vanquish, etc.

It seems you just like to be cynical and provide little supporting information or suggestions for improvement, Also the IS is a nice ride and if your talking about the 2nd to last gen. they arnt all that much, heck you can pick one up at auction for like 11-14k if your smart about it.
