Odd problem with speakers

I just installed my new Kenwood KDC-X789. When the radio is on everything works fine. When I put in a CD only the subs play. The subs are running off the amp, but the speakers are factory and running off the HU. It's not a huge deal as my new 6.5"s come on Thursday and they'll be running off an amp also, I'd just like to be able to play CDs between now and then.

if only when the cd plays the speakers dont come on then doubt if that had anything to do wid the electrical system...may be your deck settings

It sounds like you're car has a factory amplifier, when you wired you're harness up you probably connected the power antena lead to the factory amp turn on lead causing the factory speakers to work only when the radio is on.

Splice the regular remote on lead into the factory turn on lead to solve the problem.

Whether you're aware of it or not, you have a factory amp. Whatever the blue wire from your Kenwood head unit is attached to, disconnect it and connect it to the blue/white wire instead. This will solve your problem.

factory amps are tricky.

best buy really pisses me off on my friends pathfinder instead of incorporating the factory amps they rewired his whole car. and wasted 3 hours and $250bucks

we blasted the system powered from his alpine headunit.. i was like sounds pretty good for factory!

then i looked at how they wired it and how they could have wired it and rewired it..lets just say he was was ****ing pissed...

now the alpine deck has the ability to turn off its internal amp.. so... thats specific to headunits with this feature...

I don't see how it could be a problem with the factory amp. The factory amp powers the factory subwoofer, both have been removed. The problem is that the mids aren't playing when listening to a CD, but they play just fine when listening to the radio. Oh well, my aftermarket mids will be here Thursday and then they'll also be running off an amp. I was just curious as to why this was happening.

step 1... we are right

step 2... you have a factory amp that powers your speakers as well

step 3... take out your newly installed radio

step 4... disconnect whatever wire you connected Blue to

step 5... connect Blue/White to the wire Blue was originally connected to

step 6... come post on here about how we helped you solve your problem
