Beeping sound after engine shutoff?

Yea i just put a sony xplode headunit in my moms 1998 Dodge Caravan and when i shut the car off there is a series of 3 beeps after shut off then stops. there was a wire the i havent seen before on the van a thin like mesh wire that was plugged into the black wire of the old headunit so i put the new black with that one and it beepd. if u guys know why its beepin after engine shutoff i would appreactie the commets thanks!

a lot of head units do that, as a safety feature so you don't forget to take the face off. You should be able to turn it on/off through the menus

Does it have a faceplate that you can remove? I used to have an old xplod headunit and it would beep letting you know that you had not removed your faceplate. let me know if this is the case.

it never beeped when it was in mine. what is the thin sliver mesh lookin wire that was wirenutred with the black headunit wire?it has a dodge white sticker on it too. thats when it beeped when i put those together. the stoped then whe shut off beeped 3 times then stoped.

so the black wire from the headunit is the ground? i always thought the green wire was. right now i got the silver mesh wire and the all black one from the headunit togther.

Sony head units do that, but only if the speaker outputs are used. If it was connected with an amplifier running the speakers, you wouldn't have heard the beeps. I think they can also be switched off in the menu settings.

The silver mesh is the ground, and if you're using a wire nut for the connection, it probably won't be grounded for long.

i have a caravan also

the mesh wire is in fact the ground for the factory radio .. hoking up the ground wire to it is fine .. and the beep isnt coming from the van but the radio ....
