now whats the problem???

thats what tells me its going into protect... restarting your car will reset the amp, which in turn will reset its protect circuit...
most likely, when you added the second amp, you mis-placed a wire, or ended up with a loose ground... as the second amp wont pull too much amperage without being hooked up to a sub.. it will have alot of potential but not much output
Ill have to check all of that.

Any other potential issues? In case all this checks out

thats a pretty open ended question... as there are a TON of things that could be causing this (but the majority of them arent that common)... another one that is common with mid/highs amps, are people not calculating their impendance load correctly, and running the amp at too low of an impendance... but seeing as how this all started with the install of the second amp, i would say its most likely a wiring problem, as already stated

So mast was right about the highs amp going into protect.

I took the remote wire out of the Memphis sub amp and the Boston highs amp is still going into protect within about 2 minutes at regular volume. Ground wire to highs amp seems to be fine.

What now? :-\

take a DMM to your power and ground terminal on your amp, and check the voltage.... see if it drops suddenly right before it goes into protect. if it does, its a bad gorund (a ground can be really tight, but still have issues)... if it doesnt, i would check your rca's, make sure their plugged in completely, and correctly (this actually causes ALOT of issues)... and also check your final load impendance on the output

alrite, we checked the voltage n crap and it was ok.

something told me it was the remote wire, but i took it to my installer and he did something with my remote wire.....and problem solved!

that lil wire caused all those problems smh

Well....problem started again....amp goin into protect within minutes. Not hot or anything. Started after I added my sub amp. Took remote wire out of the sub amp tho. Highs amp worked perfectly until added this amp. Someone told me possibly blown speaker. But everything sounds fine.....
