memphis 16-mcd4kw questions

For those that have ran this amp before, what's current draw on this thing? I read people are pulling ~500 amps. That's horribly inefficient. Has anyone ran them under 1 ohm daily? I'm debating on getting this amp but it seems to be a current hog. However, I do understand 4k takes current to back-up. It's just that my setup before with 3k was only pulling half that current. I never dropped under 13.5 volts at idle with my DC Power 270XP and a deka 9a31. I now have the 270XP, XS d5100 under the hood, and a XS d3100 in the trunk. I wanna know if its a smart thing to do to get this amp if I want to run about 4-5k watts.
