now a problem with the MT's

well i just got them back today, one of them is rattling, i cant figure out what it is

i was thinking dustcap, because it sounds like what my 18 did when the dustcap started falling off, but it did this from the moment i put some power to it, im going to goop the dustcap up real quick and see if that helps, i hope the the vc isnt misaligned, i dont know if it would sound like mine though

no there isnt..thats only on the 10-15" se, sx, old xxx's...the ones with the "dustcaps" that cover the part of the surround where it meets the cone..and i dont think theyve always had em.

they sometimes dont put the pads on the cone for the leads...i dont think it'll make a scratching noise tho..*shrugs*

pretty hard to mess up the recone on an mt..

my dustcap did come with the little plastic thing, but i doubt he put it on

push the cone with your hand..if it does it then, chances are its mis-aligned..if you dont shim it all the way to the bottom of the gap it'll be off since the gap is so tight..in my experience anyway

id ask the dude who did them then...cause, besides being off..i cant think of another reason it would rattle..i always put em on when reconing xxx's etc and globbed a shit ton of ca in there..and a shit ton is less than what comes factory lol

i can put my finger on the surround and push down slightly and it will stop, then put my finger on the other side it it will go crazy...i hate my luck

i messed up doing a xxx for myself (didnt put the shim to the bottom)...if i tapped the surround on one side i didnt hear it, but the other side..it was terrible (just like you decribed)...put some power on it, and it sounded like absolute ***.
