Not sure where to start troubleshooting

Ive been running some new speakers and sub for a few months now and everything's been great and as expected. A few days ago it started to play music oddly and i cant find anything online about the same type of thing, hoping someone here can help.

A little hard to explain so bear with me ill do my best.

The music starts to cut in and out but it never stops playing like if i had a loose wire or something, its not a static noise or even a noise at all. It always plays music but mid sentance or word will start to cut out and come back rapidly making the music sort of choppy. Here and there randomly it plays perfectly normal and clear, probably 50/50 clear/choppy at this point.

it is both speakers doing it exactly the same all the time. I did not replace my head unit and have not gotten around to getting an amp to run the speakers.

My sub sounds great through all of this.

Are my new speakers shot? Im just not sure where i should start with the troubleshooting if someone could point me in a good direction that'd be much appreciated

Both speaks cutting out at same time would hint being a short/bad connection or do the ohms on the new speakers match the impedance on your head unit? Did it have a factory highs that you left hooked up? Maybe dropping ohms low?

I will check the ohms at head unit and speakers. Im not sure what factory highs are honestly i just un did the old speaker wire and soldered in new wires with the new speakers. Worked great daily for about 3 months and now this. Thanks for the help!

what model/type of drivers, coaxial or component, and how are they wired?
I have a pioneer head unit running two 6x9s on each side of the truck with i think scosche brand speaker wires

Just did some playing with it to check a couple suggestions. It does it driving or parked and i think i actually narrowed it down to loose connections in the plug that goes into the head unit itself. Ill be able to play with some more over the next couple days so if anyone has any other places to look while i have it torn down thatd be great!

Well its definitely the pins going into the back of the head unit they are super loose, looks like i get to re pin it this weekend
