Not Reaching Target Voltage on Digital Multimeter

So a month ago I ordered and installed my B-24 subs with the matching M-2250 amp by Sound Ordnance from Crutchfield.com and I couldn't be more happy with them! Do the make my car vibrate or what! Haha. Very quality products incase anyone is considering them.

I'm having some trouble properly setting them up though. After trying and failing to detect any clipping or distortion with the gain, bass, and all of the stock factory head unit's bass and volume settings maxed out, I went out and dropped the $30 on a digital multimeter. This presented me with more questions than answers though. Using a test tone on my iPhone, I was only capable of getting the voltage up to 32 even though I determined the subs max voltage to be 44 (square root of 500x4, tell me if that's wrong or something). I've kept the gain cautiously low at around 1/2, which still bumps pretty dang hard, but how I would love to really push them to their full potential!

This thread isn't so much asking how I can raise the voltage output, although that would be nice if anyone has any idea, maybe a new head unit? More so, I would love it if someone could tell me if this means it is safe to max out all the settings, or did I make some error somewhere in my math or my settup?

Thanks in advance guys, I really would love an answer to this!

Already got the LOC, and was thinking about getting a new head unit. This might sway me in that direction. Alrhough it is already pretty loud and if I could crank it, that might be uncomfortably loud! Do you know if the volatage reading means I can turn it up though?

There's a distinct possibility that your amp won't make more than 32 volts safely. I'd say if it sounds good to you and you're not blowing anything up, leave well enough alone.

A proper source unit should help all around though and would likely be a good investment.
