Didn't know that but, I have heard otherwise. I heard for a few people that the speaker channels start clipping at 27/28.not true. the sub channel is clean up to 35/35 on +1db. +3db@34/35, +5db@33/35, +7@32/35, etc, etc. if you are setting the gains for your amps with the sub control all the way up on an Excelon, do so at 28/35. however, I chose to set mine at max volume with the sub out at 0db, since the front and rear channels will not distort at any volume.
I'll try it out. Will have to reset my speaker gains though.Nope. not on my x994, anyways. and another person had the same results with a 695. No clipping on the speaker channels @ 1khz, at any volume. it'll clip at 35 out of 35 @ 40hz, tho. which is why I set mine @ 34. the key is to not use the sub channel cranked up. you'll get a more balanced sound throughout the volume range with it set low, anyways.
with the amount of power i have going to my highs, i rarely play it over 30. Even at 26 I can't make a decent in-car vid with my S3... too much for the mic.I'll try it out. Will have to reset my speaker gains though.

this is playing at 28, then lowering to 26 during the vid.
Nah not a fan of doing it that way. I want all of the tuning and crossovers set through the head unit. Also the time alignment on the 80prs is much better imo plus it has 32 bands of eq. I really love the natural sound this head unit has but, it is time for a change.I set the mids LPF/tweeters HPF (3.55 khz@-12db) crossovers on my active-capable XR-4S using a CC-1. Then set the HPF on the deck(at 50hz in that vid) to bandpass the mids. The combo of amp/deck xovers work fine for me, and the cleanness of sound + 6 band T/A has me set on staying with this deck. I'm used to it, and have grown to love it.
I play almost every thing dead flat on the eq (it was in the vid), so 32 bands are completely unnecessary for me. I'm not a fan of pioneer, but hear nothing but good things about the 80. I would like to have the adjust-ability of the mid range xovers, as well. However, my setup sounds pretty darn good considering i've built it on a fairly meager budget.Nah not a fan of doing it that way. I want all of the tuning and crossovers set through the head unit.
