Not enough Watts

So 2 weeks ago I went to a competition just to get some numbers. At the time I was running a Cadence q9000.. 1200 watts at 1 ohm single 12.. at 40hz. I hit a lame 34.1db. And only registered roughly 475 - 500 watts... I came home messed around with my amp sounded like it got a little louder. I did my own amp reading with a clamp in meter. I came up with roughly 550w

Then I swapped out my q9000. For a zapco st1650. Supposed to be 1500 RMS at 1 ohm... I clamped it at about 900 watts

I realized it that amp clamp is just a rough estimate. Just curious one of my setup is not utilizing all the power from of a amp. It's only doing about half RMS I must have something wrong any thoughts?

Need to know what your impedance curve looks like, 40Hz is only a snapshot. If you do a sine sweep from 100Hz to 10Hz at full tilt and setup to read a peak hold value, you may get your full wattage somewhere in there.

That's the reality of reactive loads. You don't get full power at every frequency.

low freqs u won't get as much power as at higher freqs., but if u wanta be loud u gotta get rid of that 29hz stuff or get 3x the power..

Yes I have a second icon coming. And building a 5cube box. With an adjustable 8" aeroport. Probably going to tune around 35 to 37 Hertz. Just waiting on SSA. Fkn snore!

tragik tested his dc 2k's and showed he was only getting 1/2 the power., idk what freqs he tested at but he just got ho alt don't know what improvement that made..

My sub doesn't put out any Watts lol

It's a ssa icon D2 wired to 1ohm.. 1250watts rms

i bet that zapco is nice u should give it to me when u up grade lol., but for real though i'm poor and married.. u see the new zap 2 channels? nice but they won't be cheap..

Wrong.

I've clamped as high as 3800 watts from the two 2.0k's.

I've had the alt on my car longer than I've had the pair of amps.

its box rise man. Cant really escape it unless you wire lower. You can reduce it with a smaller box... but it'll always be there. thats extremely low of a score for an icon tho. Should be in the 140 range or at least high 130s. I honestly would not recommend 5 cubes net. more like 4 to 4.5 cubes.

Impedance rise. It happens. You can wire your amp lower when you're burping at shows to compensate

i read on your thread u said u were getting 1k per amp or something and u were just talking about alt so i thought u just got it..
