Not enough Watts

Wrong.
I've clamped as high as 3800 watts from the two 2.0k's.

I've had the alt on my car longer than I've had the pair of amps.
i read on your thread u said u were getting 1k per amp or something and u were just talking about alt so i thought u just got it..

My sub doesn't put out any Watts lolIt's a ssa icon D2 wired to 1ohm.. 1250watts rms
you should really think about getting a sub that puts out some watts man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

why not get an SQ2200? Mine is a BEAST, and would be pretty problem free if it hadnt been for some rookie mistakes with my first foray into the 4 digit watt arena

I've always wanted to run zapco. They've been around since the 70s. One of the only brands that never lost there way or spld out and sacrifice quality for quantity over the decades

i still have a big fondness of A/D/S/. Loved the amps from them i have/had. I have a (broken from a car accident //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif ) PQ20.2, and sold a PS5 and a 642ix (x-over)

so i get the desire to stick with a brand esp if its (what sounds like ) a toy vehicle that you use for fun times and showing off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You're going to have to quote that from my thread and/or tell me what post number it is. I don't recall ever stating that it will ONLY clamp 1k per amp.

In one of the classes I compete in, I have to keep my power below 2500 watts. But that's a bit different than saying they'll only do 1k each.

post 44 u said i clamped 1050 on my 2k...

Ahh yes I did. Things have changed, and that was at that 1 particular frequency. After that show, I did more testing WITH a clamp, and got a single 2.0k to clamp as high as right at 1500, but got no gain in DB. But I was wired at .7 ohms. Since going to 2 amps, I wired to .5 ohms per amp, and CAN clamp higher. As I said, highest I've seen is 3800 for the pair...could probably get over 4k if I cared, but I don't test to see how much power I can put out, I test for how high DB I can get.

In fact, I try to get my power as low as possible, while getting DB as high as possible.

Depending on which port size and length I'm using, I can do 147.8 at 2200 watts, or 147.8 with 2700 watts. I've gained a wealth of knowledge on this since buying a Termlab and clamp.

overpriced inefficient use of money to get loud IMO.

For 50 dollars more you could have gotten a 3.2k orion xtr 2500.1

You gained nothing getting 500 more watts?
Yup...BUT.

My box in an external, aero ported, box. I have 2 ports that I swap back and forth. A 6 inch, and an 8 inch.

It takes 2200 - 2300 watts to do a 147.8 with the 6 inch port....but 147.8 is all it will do with the 6 inch port. I can throw 3k to it, and all it does is a 47.9 with that port.

With the 8 inch port, it takes right at 2700 watts to do 147.8. However it keeps climbing with more power, with the 8 inch.

8 inch port is used for the outlaw class I run in, 6 inch for the clamped power sealed class I run in.

Yes it's definitely gotten louder. I'm going to a show Saturday and I'll be able to catch a DB number. See what I've gained. Then the new box finished 4 the second icon.. soon as SSA gets it to me.. hit another comp for another DB reading.. throw more money at it get a reading...then more money... get a reading so on and so forth till my wife leaves me....
If you're chasing numbers, and trying to be competitive, do yourself a favor and just buy a meter. Doesn't need to be a TermLab if you're not doing clamped power classes, or if you don't have enough power to break out of that class anyway. SHOULD be one that is calibrated to a TermLab (SSA meter or SPL Labs meter).

Interesting...sounds like your maxed out.

With my current box, most likely. But I'm winning at the moment, so it's all good.

Current box is musical (when I use the 6 inch port, lengthened to 18 inches or so). I'll be building and testing a burp box in the near future.
