Not enough spl, thinking of moving from w6's to w7's.

If you want alot of SPL and good SQ, just look at what IASCA and MECA SQ champions are using (JL, Focal, IDMAX, Dayton, Peerless, MTX9500, T3 TSS).Then look at what dB Drag and USAC SPL champions are using, (DD 9900, FI BTL, RE SE, Crossfire XSPL, Atomic APXX, T3 TSS)

and pick the woofers that are common to both.

T3 comes to mind there.
dont forget iascas sq champion last year using AQHDC copper coils and still be able to pull off a 50+ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

AQ = Good sub.

My list is not complete, I was going from memory.

Dont forget SQ judging is done (generally) at 126db. I have to remind people of this when they tell me how many SQ championships the L7's have. If we are going by trophies alone, are we not going to include the L7's in this prestigious list of SQ winners?

Unless you really know what you are looking at, I dont suggest looking to the competition lanes to judge woofers you may want to purchase for your daily driver. And if you are savvy enough to understand what to take with a grain of salt when looking at lane winners, you probably are already savvy enough to form your own opinions anyway.

I always used to tell people to just take a listen and pick what subs THEY thought sounded best, not what some guy told them was best.

Its hard to do that but atleast by going to car shows you can talk to alot of the people and ask to listen their systems and judge for yourself.

Voice coil glue from trying to use W6s for SPL with over 2000w because he read somewhere that it can be done.
No i havnt used JL since prob 1998. Have you tested there power cap.?? Have you done any work with JL subs? I was giving the OP my opinion and nothing more. Its pretty obvious i dont ride on the JL train just look at my sig.

The fact of the matter is, a W7 will get louder than a W6 but rather than an SPL set-up you will have more so an SQL set-up. While loud is a subjective term, I think the W7's are awesome and if you have the money to buy em, by all means..
All these other guys who live paycheck by paycheck will tell you to get some no name sub because they cant afford the JL name and quality..

go recone a w7................

I don't want to get into money thing but I love my 10w7, they are designed for sq not spl. They will get plenty loud, I think sometimes with clean sound it doesn't seem as loud. I am often surprise when I try to talk to my passenger I often find that I can't talk over the stereo and it didn't seem that loud. I was at USACI regional event and it seamed allot of people was running JL.

wtf has anyone in here ever used either one of these subs, ive never seen so many retarded answers in one thread.

its hard to say if it would be louder but i loved my w7

Let me give my opinion?

I've played with a 12w6v2(owned one) and a 12w7(friend of mine has one, played with it tons)

W6 sounds better. W7 is louder and still sounds good. That's all there is to that subjectively from my point of view.

Two 13w6v2's vs a single 13w7? I'd bet my left nut the w6's were louder. The w6's still get decently loud and sound great, the W7 is more SPL geared and maintains a pretty **** good SQ. Think about this, you're talking 2x the cone area with a sub that doesnt have quite as much output, but still holds its own.

And a single 1000/1 is not enough power for two 13w7's. They're fairly efficient but they need more power.

Well there's rock solid proof if I ever saw it.
I think you misunderstood the JL guys all those years ago my friend.
And your proof is................................................... still waiting.............................................................................. well................................................... nothing yet?......................
