Noobs First Wall; Democcord Part 2

Im far from an expert but I would assume the fleece and resin would be much easier and seal better just for the simple fact it can be contoured from one area to the next without 500 cuts
Thanks for the input. Just wanted to have a second opinion. I’m not an expert either so learning as I’m going

looks like a fun project. what is your plan for the sunroof?

just a tip, the next time you want multiple circuits, instead of doing this:

order this:

Thanks! I hadn’t seen these before. Definitely will be ordering this soon. Would help out white a bit.

Honestly still haven’t got to the sunroof yet. Only thing I’ve done so far is secure the casing so as to prevent movement and rattle with glue and foam. As far as the sunroof glass not sure, any suggestions?

Been a while since I posted. Going to be starting back up this weekend if weather allows. Ordered pieces recommended above, will be sanding inside of box, apply filler where need be, then get started on resin and sealing off b pillars

Had to cover front before I started sanding to get as minimal saw dust and filler as possible on the front

Next started applying filler to contour rough edges

Next I saw some videos on EXO build and decided to add a second piece on each for the sides and angles

Next I started cutting the last angle piece and was setting up to apply chop mat to angles to reinforce

Now at this point I’m just layering it every night before I go to sleep and will continue for about a week or so since time is very limited. In he meantime only thing left to do was order the bracing rods that will go inside and start the first layer of the baffle which I plan to make it a total of 4 layers thick

And this is where I am now. I hope to buy the next sheet of wood next week and complete the baffle by next weekend

Idk how much you know about fiberglass but multiple flat layers isn't all the strong. If you're looking for strength. Add a few dowels along the flat planes and do layers over them. Curves add tremendous strength.

Is there a reason you didn't utilize the trunk and back of the car? There is a tremendous amount of airspace you're just kinda..wasting imo.

Any chance you can show me a pic of an example. This is my first time using fiberglass mat as well as resin. Was told this was the best route to go for what I wanted. Still learning though and definitely ok with trying new ideas. As far as the trunk I plan to have the amp and batteries back there.

Basically just try not to use fiberglass when making anything flat. Wood will be stronger. If want strength in curves and corners FG is great.

Got ya. Thanks for the tip. I’m planning to add some metal rods going from front to back and side to side. I’m hoping that will help as well
