noobie questions

couple of questions, thanks in advance for the opinions.

I have 2 matrix audio elite 12s, 2ohm DVC in a ported box, running off a powerbass 1500. some of this stuff i have aquired through trades and unfortunately it doesnt all match up that well, since i cant run 2dvc 2ohms with a 1ohm load to the amp, so my choices are either run 1 to the amp at 1ohm and risk blowing it, or seriously underpower both subs as the powerbass does about 700@2ohms and the subs are 700w rms each.

So, ive purchased another amp on the forums here (massive 2400), however ill still be in the same situation as i didnt research the wiring options before i bought it, so now ill be able to run both subs at 1ohm off each amp but that still gives me the opportunity to blow the speakers and ill be running 2 amps, wiring concerns, space concerns, etc... so here are my questions:

should i buy another amp that will run about 1500w@2ohms and sell an amp that i have? or,

should i buy 2 12"subs that are 4ohm dvc so that i can put a 1ohm load to the amp and get the necessary power to run the subs (thinking the SA 600w) and then sell the ME elites? are the SA 600w better than the ME elites? about the same?

i would normally just buy the new subs, however, im not sure how good the powerbass amp is (seems pretty decent though), and im pretty sure the ME elites are pretty nice subs, so im kinda hesitating on purchasing new subs if a better amp would make more sense.

so 2 choices on the setup depending on what route i go.

One is to run the 4 Massive 6.5s off a massive 800.4, then the PG 9 titanium off the massive 2400@4ohm, and then run the ME elites of a new amp, and sell the powerbass amp.

the other choice is to run the massive 6.5s off the 800.4, run the PG 9 off either the powerbass or the massive 2400, and then buy 2 new subs that are 4ohm and run them off either the powerbass or massive, and sell the ME elites.

What make more sense in your opinion?

thats not going to blow the amp? i did that with a memphis audio 1000.1 accidentally and after about 2 hours it started smoking.

ehh, after reading some, it might be possible, but id rather not blow a 250$ amp for no reason, id rather buy somethign else to do it right and sell something to make some money back.

The amp isn't even going to be seeing 1/2 ohm cause of box rise and other factors. After everything is said and done you'd probably be around 1 ohm anyway. How big is your factory alt on your car? You should be good if you've got 0 gauge ran, the Big 3, and an extra battery.

alt looks like its 160amp, is that enough?

i can replace the big 3 it doesnt look difficult and a good idea anyway.

i do have 0 gauge wire ran to the amp.

160 amps is plenty for a 1500 watt amp. Do the Big 3 and run another battery or get a newer/bigger one under the hood depending what's there now and you should be good. I mean if it makes you feel better you can get 2 dual 4's and run them at 1 but that Powerbass is completely capable of running below 1 and is probably a monster doing so.

thanks, i appreciate the input. I will check into the battery but im pretty sure its decent. Id rather not run another battery at the back of the car, maybe if i can figure out a way to run another from inside the engine compartment, i have lots of room in there so im sure there is a place i can put it.

What size battery would i be looking to ensure i have if i just wanted to run off one battery?

Thanks!

Not really a good question for me. I don't run a whole lot of watts myself (up to around 1000 or so). There's plenty of people who will chime in on this. Just be patient. I have an idea but I don't want to give you bad advice.

There are several vendors on here that can help you, mylows10 comes to mind. Just put the largest agm batt that the factory location can fit. I am dealing with a similar issue, as far as adding a second batt in the back. Good luck to you.

so just add 4 or 0 gauge in addition to the wiring that is there? interesting, and im glad you said that.

yep read the instructional on 12volt, still doesnt look difficult, but thanks again for pointing that out.

Use 1/0 gauge if you're going to do the big 3. Also, you might want to check out: HDS200 or HDS300

I can vouch for both and I personally have the cheap HDS200's and love mine. I have about 850w to each one and they are fine.
