Noob with questions

Picking up an RE audio 10" sub this Friday from a member on the forum and want to know what amp should I run. Not to sure how many watts I should get. Last time I bought a amp and hooked it up to my subs I blew my subs. Subs where 500 Watts RMS each and my amp was 1000 so I dont see why it would have blown, but I am a noob to some aspects of car audio including this one. LOL

Here is the sub I am getting

WoofersEtc.com - RE10 - RE Audio 10" 250 Watt Dual 4 Ohm RE Series Subwoofer

Please let me know what is the correct amp wattage I should be running for one of these.

Get something that can do 200-300 at 2 ohms. That way, you can have a little head room. But you can get any amp you want that does at least 200 at 2 ohms, just watch the your gains and it'll be just fine.

Look into hifonics or something like that. It's the cheapest i'll go when it comes to amps.

Okay bud heres what you got according to the link you provided. It says that your getting a dual 4 ohm sub. The thermal power handling is 175 watts so thats the max power you want to show the sub safely. If your just going to be running one then the lowest impedence the amp will see with the dual 4 ohm sub is 2 ohm. So with that info you want to get an amp that does say 200 watts RMS at 2 ohm. If your gonna run a pair of them then you want to find an amp that will do 400 watts RMS @ 1 ohm. If you would post a budget we could maybe help you find a decent amp in the price range your looking to stay in. Hope this helps bro!

My budget 0-120 probably just buy something off of the forums or ebay..

Either one of these amps be perfect and give you a little overhead.

Guess I will be making my own enclosure also.. First time going to try and build one, that site that I posted doesnt show the specs for the box.. I think I have my hands full with this good challenge LOL
