Noob Sub and Amp Help

Hi, I have recently acquired 4 kicker 12 inch subs model 10c124. They are 4 ohms. Their power handling is 50-150 w rms with a peak of 300. I also got a pioneer amp that I had originally planned on selling but may use to at least test the subs. It is a pioneer gm-d9605. This is a multichannel amp. I don't plan on having any speakers besides the subs wired to my amp. The amp outputs 75 w x 4 rms and 350 w rms x 1 at 4 ohms. I am a total rookie to this but that means my understanding is that at a maximum if I wired all of my 4 subs to this channel it would output 650 w rms. However I could see why it would output only 350w rms. I believe that I should have an amp that outputs right around 600-900 w rms with my subs at 4 ohms. I could see then why I would get a better bang for my buck with a different or mono amp. However, one of my buddies said that if I tried these subs with this amp because it is a 2000w amp I might blow my subs. Is this true? Can someone offer guidance on my thinking here?

First your friend is not a car audio pro (based on his 2000w comment) so stop listening to him. With your subs, you really can only get to an ohm load of 1 ohm or 4 ohms (Either all in parallel to 1 ohm, or series 2 pairs of subs and then wire them down in parallel together to 4ohms). With that said, your amp is only 2 ohms stable on the sub channel, so you can't wire to 1 ohm, that leaves 4 ohms and the output of 350W.... I'd sell the 9605 and get a pioneer 8601 (800Wx1 @ 1ohm).

Great! So my thinking was correct then except for the 650 w max out of that channel it would be 350 to the sub. In that case. Would it be safe to test my subs with said amp? And then I can sell it and get your recommendation. Thanks so much.

u can also get a jbl gtx 500 big blank tested 1 to do over 800rms @2 ohm (if the subs are svc 4 ohm this amp will work) i didn't see u say they were dvc if subs have 4 terminals each it's dvc and u would need the pioneer amp (or 1 that does 1 ohm) if sub only has 1+ and 1- it's svc and both subs would wire to 2 ohm..
No he can't he has 4 SVC 4 Ohms subs... No wiring combo will get him down to 2 ohms...

They are svc! I thought 4 ohm svc can't be wired to 2 ohm though?
Pay no attention to Gramps... He cant think beyond 2 ohms. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yes you can wire to 4 ohms and test the subs, but I wouldn't run that long term...
