Did he use a DMM or a scope?? Or did he just do it by ear? None the less you need a DMM of your own. They are not expensive and have many uses other then setting the gains on ur amp.

This ^^^^ but if u have 2v preouts then ure gain shouldnt be higher then 2-3oclock, setting it there dosnt mean u wont clip but its a visual idea of about where 2v is on the gain. If your preouts at 2.5-3v's it prob needs to be closer to 12-1oclock

Wrong. You should never go past 12 o clock. 2v is about 12oclock on most amps, 2.5 is about 11oclock, they are very closer but you should never ever go past 12oclock.

Grab two $20's and take a ride up to lowes or the depot. U can get them for like $10 bucks but I would spend alil more for a quality item.

that all depends on the ohm load your running as the voltage at the outputs changes depending on load. I beleive there is a thread on how to set gains with a dmm.

Talk to a local alternator shop. Usually a stock alt can be respun to a higher amperage rating for a fraction of the price of a true HO alt. At 80 amps, Im guessing your case has room for more copper in it.

actually i have since i am running one. i have a 200 h/o alt(now sells 220amp alts) from powerbastards.com and i paid roughly 220 for it a couple years back and now with the economy i know they have gone up a few. was just throwing the option out there.

also agree with the second batter option as well or depending on the battery that is being ran to just upgrade that to a bigger battery that works.

You might want to check into getting it respooled...might be a cheaper option. Also like mention before maybe just add another battery or upgrade to a bigger battery.
