noise problems

I have a Ford Ranger that I installed an Alpine head unit, mtx thunder 250 amp, and a polk gnc 10" sub in. I get noise out of the sub at low volume, and sometimes a hum that only goes away when I cut the gain all the way back. Is this a ground noise or something else? what should I check? Help Please!!!!!!!!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

this could be a ground noise. but make sure your RCA's and power leads are seperated and that your RCA's are not near any other source of electric including the fuse box. RCA cords are usually the first thing to check when you hear a whine in your system. above and beyond that it could be something more major like your electrical system but hopefully checking the RCA's will do it.

NO !! Grounds don't cause noise.....But a BAD or LOOSE ground can. Checking to make sure that your ground hasn't come loose would be the first thing I'd check.

Bad groundings causes your circuit not to be closed meaning it gets distortion from other electrical systems in your car, like the engine detonator

Bad ground ISOLATIONS are the number one reason for whistling or engine sounds so better get your act together chris //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Btw, if you have the problem then take your ground cable of the car and put it on a new clean metal point on your car (real clean metal) and then put a cable on your engine hood (blank point) and put that on the just connected ground cable

You then always have a circuit and if your whistling problem was due to groundings then it should be gone after re-arranging the grounds in that way

easier is the caliber lt2 filter

yea, you got me man. I don't know what i'm talking about! I'm going to play with my grounds now.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i have a ford ranger and i quit noise using:

1. rca from eq to crosover with center ground (lanzar)

2. make aditional ground on the chasis radio to car chasis

3. and last use a noise suppresor ns-15 piramid

with this 3 tips the noise is history

see yaa!!!
