Hey everybody, Im a registered new member and have looked over this forum for sometime now before actually registering. I know everybody that posts has good opinions and great information. So maybe I could get some help already?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

First off I am running 2 12" Audioque 2.5 s.d. subwoofers that was wired in parallel into a Hifonics BXI 1606D amplfier. I had that amplifier for about 2 years first using it to power 2 12" L7's before switching to Audioque. I believe I was running 1ohm but never shut off when pounding hard. But within the last week it decided to go into protect mode and I figured it was not getting enough juice from the stock electrical system (battery, and alternator) knowing my ground wire a was grounded properly and wiring was correct. I was talked into getting a Blue top from optima through a local parts store. I purchased it and I believe I have it wired series with my existing stock Interstate battery.

So really my question is, is my set up with the batterys properly installed and I am running to much Volts into the amplifier? Im new to installing batterys and such. So any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Here is my existing battery to power my car.

Then runs into my first Mini wafer ANL 125A fuse

4guage power wire runs into the Blue top from the Interstate battery

Properly grounded

Then from the postitive (+) runs into another 125A fuse then from there into the Amplifier

Then hopefully power these

But this happend after trying to hook everything up with the amp going into protect mode. I small fire and a heat sink burned. Worth replacing?

Sorry its a big thread, but figured it was the best way to post for being new!

wiring second battery in series is a big no no. That means you are running 24 volts. Wire it in a parallel so that it will be 12 volts again. That is probly the reason it fried your amp.

So I guess thats how I have it now? My positive power wire going to the Positive of the blue top, then both negatives being grounded to the chasis. Wonder what made me think that is series? How would series be ran then?

So as far as getting a new amp to power these subs. Between these two amps which would be the better choice?

**Soundstream PCA1500D

Peak Power Output: 3000 watts approx.

RMS Power Ratings:

800 Watts x 1 Channel @ 4 Ohms

1100 Watts x 1 Channel @ 2 Ohms

1500 Watts x 1 Channel @ 1 Ohm

Hifonics BXi2008D

RMS Power @ 4 ohms: 650 watts x 1

RMS Power @ 2 ohms: 1300 watts x 1

RMS Power @ 1 ohm: 2000 watts x 1

I would like run 2ohms instead of trying to push the subs that hard at 1 ohm.. How do you keep 2ohms instead of 1ohm when running the speaker wires into the amp wired in parallel?

I would get the soundstream amp, which may be more efficient. And run your pos from one bat to the other. And you got two choices for the ground. Either run it to the ground in the trunk or to the ground on the other bat.

Series would be positive of the interstate going to the negative of the blue top, positive from blue top going to alt, starter, etc and negative from the interstate being grounded to chassis. You don't want to do that tho lol

yea they are Dual VC at 4ohm. So my options are either 4 ohm which I get that wiring them in series?? And 1ohm which I get wiring in parallel?? Starting to make sense alil bit now, I kind of just did everything my self with out askin for help. Kinda the only way I have ever learned anything.

But I want to make sure the amp I get is 1ohm stable correct?

And as far as the grounding, I do have the blue top grounded in the trunk. So Im good with the battery set up correct?
