newbie subwoofer help

I have a Cerwin Vega VMax dual 4 ohm 12" woofer in a slot port box that is being ran by a kenwood KAC-9105D 1800w Max/500w RMS amp all controlled by a kenwood DDX319 DD Headunit. My amp gain is turned to 0 and my H/U settings for the sub are 120hz/120hz. I had it installed at a local shop in my hometown and recently my Vmax started making a loud "pop" noise on certain songs that never used to be a problem. What might cause this, btw my amp is ran in a 4 ohm load so it is only pumping out 500rms. Please help.

how do they have it wired? if they hooked just 1 side of the sub to the amp it is wrong you either run it in a parallel or a series. so take the sub out to see or if you have a multimeter you can check thru the sub terminals on the box and if it reads 4 ohm they just used 1 side and you have to rewire the sub to a 8 ohm which is series or a 2 ohm which is parallel. any reading other then 2 or 8 ohm is wrong and can destroy your sub. Thanks buddy. I've got a sound comp coming up in July in my hometown that im trying to get ready for. This is my first one that I've ever participated in as I am fairly new to the car audio scene. Btw this setup is in an 05 silverado crew cab.

Its a local SPL, DB Drag event that got so much attention, it is now up on termpros website. Its got local and national classes. Im not going for ranking, i just am curious how much im hitting as is.
