Newbie Setup, box displacement question

Alright so I've been doing some forum crawling and ordered some ****. Anywho I've settled on a Sundown Audio SA-15 for a single sub, I listen to mostly rap and don't have just oodles of space but would like to get some nice lows. After more research I've picked up an Audioque 1200d amp, for solid power and potential future upgrade ability if necessary. Where I'm stuck is the box. You should know that I have no intention of building my own box, but if it's the only sensible route at this point i would be willing to pay someone to build a nice one for me.

My main question is, how will it sound in this cheap *** box on ebay? It lists 3.4 cubic feet of airspace, but the dimensions indicate it's about 3.0 cubic feet, and it would be even less including the port and the subwoofer displacement. The recommended specs for the sundown are 3.0 cubes for a ported enclosure. How much is this .5 cubes under going to mess with my sound?

Do they in fact take subwoofer and port displacement into account when suggesting a ported chamber volume, or are they indicating that it needs to be 3.0 after all displacements?

I would love to have a nice loud fairly good sounding system while only having to spend 45 shipped for a nice clean carpeted box, and it's just about the perfect dimensions to divide up my trunk nicely with space for the amp.

If sundown recommends 3 cubes then that's after all displacements, so that box is going to be too small. Why purchase such nice equipment if your going to cheap out on quite possibly the most important factor? (the enclosure) You could take the worlds best subwoofer and put it in a crappy box and it would sound like ass. Your system is only as good as it's weakest link. It's not that difficult to build an enclosure, hell you could do it with just a circular saw and drill if you had to. You don't know ANYONE with a circular, or better yet, a table saw?

i know its a horrible suggestion, but you could have your local home depot/lowes cut the wood for dimensions if you have a design. and there are several designers on here that will do a **** good design for you. check out ram_designs or buck. also hit up pro rabbit as he can build and ship to you for a decent price.

Appreciate the suggestions, so far I'm reading that pro rabbit may be able to help me out. I have plenty of saws and whatnot, I'm just a lazy stoner who already works too much. I want a clean finished product, and I'm not going to get that if I do it myself, not the first time anyway. And overall I don't enjoy working with wood, especially stuff like MDF.

Also, what's a good brand to go with for power wires for the amp?

nice equipment, getting a to-spec box built for you will definitely be worth it.

This is my thought as well. Would be a much better box volume if you could buy the 12" version of those subs.
