Newbie question on sub selection

I am having a hard time choosing the right sub. I can only fit an 8" sub in my truck and am stuck choosing the dd 1508, american bass, xd-8, sundown sa-8 or having slpaudio biuld me one. I dont want any type of show quality or crazy bass machine. I just want a good sub that will last and can hit some deep lows when needed. I am going to go with a 500 or 600watt mono block. I will also have dd 6.5 drivers in the rear doors and dd 6.5 components in the front doors. Should I just go with the dd and keep it all dd?

That's up to you. The 1508 is a good woofer but there are a lot of DD haters on this forum. If you want it and can afford it go for it. The other woofers are probably more affordable and I believe the sa-8 has been shown to outperform the 1508 in several different installs in both low frequency extension and spl. I am not a sundown nuthugger and actually run all DD gear but that's what I've heard.

OP, DD prices are pretty high compared to a lot of other companies, I would find some in the classifieds if you can. They usually sell for a reasonable amount

you could also look into the skar vvx-x 8. the triple stacked motor on an 8 just looks nasty.

i actually seen some sa-8s a couple of days ago they look pretty beastly, and from what i hear they perform well.

also look at the dc 8's price is pretty decent too.the dd 1508 are steel stamped baskets and very pricey .they are ok at best .not very good at the low end

Id look at a DC Level 2 8". They can be had for $100 here. Or you can look at the Cadence 8". Its similar to the DD 1508, but way cheaper and actually outperforms it. Another great 8" is the Image Dynamics ID8.

Jacob from Sundown did a comparison. IIRC it was between the Cadence CVL8, DD 1508, and the SA8.

What truck? Are you sure you can't find room for a 10"? HxWxD of where you are going to put the sub would be good to know. And are you planning on a ported box?
