Hey guys and gals. I just bought a new stereo/head panel because my old one finally went kaput. I figured I'd treat myself, so I bought one of the fancier ones in the store, an Eclipse CD5100. Now that I've got this cool new head set, I decided to upgrade my speakers accordingly. I have talked to two guys with two different opinions. One said component speakers would be way better than regular speakers b/c of my head set, and they 4 component speakers would set me up real nice. The other guy said that without an external amplifier, component speakers would do nothing more for me than cheaper, regular speakers, and that there's really no point to getting new rear speakers if I don't have rear passengers on a regular basis.

So, My two main questions are: without an external amp but with a nice head set, should I spring some extra cash for component speakers over regulars? Should I replace all 4 speakers or just the front 2?

Thanks a mil.

Buy an amp for your components. The second guy is right without an amp you wont get much difference than sound. But its definitely worth it to upgrade as opposed to some coax running off headunit power.

I would buy a descent two channel amp for a set of components and if you are set on rear fill run your factory speakers off of your headunit.

noooo, don't hijack my thread with hookers and drugs!

Amps are **** expensive though :/ I already spent more on the headset than it was actually worth, plus the speakers...this is getting expensive!

tell me that thousands and thousands of dollars ago.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif it's not for everyone..

The speakers I have looked at/am interested in are $100 a pair for regulars and $129 a pair for components, although I will also need to buy two $20 dollar spacers for the front. I have not priced any amps, but just from inadvertantly browsing they seem to all be $300-$500. I was hoping to spend like $200-$300 dollars more on my audio set up right now. I think I'm going to go ahead and get two sets of component speakers, and maybe wait a little while till I have some more cash and then get an amp. Any suggestions you guys have for a decent yet affordable amp I could look into getting? This stuff is getting pretty expensive, but hey, you've gotta love it, right?

check out the classifieds on here. for 300 bucks you can definately get a decent set of components and a decent 2 channel amp to power them.

Buy one set of components, and an amp. Honestly, do you sit in your back seats and listen to music much? If not, it would be a waste of good money to get a set of speakers for the back, when you can just use stock for now. Buy an amp for the front ones, and make it sound good, where you're going to be all the time.
