I have a 84 Chevy Caprice which has a very large trunk. I curently have an Alpine head unit. I have no clue about car audio and what to get or how to run it. I listen to rap, R&b and techno music. So I want my system too have lots of bass. My budget is $1000 hopefully I can achieve what i'm looking for.

Welcome to Hell.

15's. If you want a lot of bass. I know this car very well, as I have owned 3 and installed systems in bout 1000 of them. Relatively cheap budget, go with 2-15" kicker cvrs. Custom ported box(not prefab) kicker zx1000.1 would pound them. You could save a few bucks by going with a power acoustik amp(cheap&decent). But I would stay away from bamf series. I see a lot of problems with those. Might have enough money left over to get some highs, depending on where you shop and how much the box costs you.

If you have money in about a week that's when the killer deals on used gear come up on these forums. You can do a fair bit on that budget IMO.

You should start putting together what you'll need for wiring and such. Keep in mind if you plan to run over 1200W or so you'll want to start upgrading your electrical system (additional battery and/or upgraded alternator).

Can you build a box yourself or do you need one built? Custom is the ONLY way to go. Best buy subs in a well made box will beat elite subs in prefab.

Buy high quality and your stuff will perform better, last longer, and hold resale value if you ever decide to upgrade or just get out of it.

Also you may well want to consider an alarm if you live in a city. It's a bad hit to have all your hard work and harder earned money grow wings and fly away on you late some night and have only a missing trunk lock and broken glass to show for it.

Welcome. Not sure how much room you have but the Box Chevy's have a lot of room in the trunk. If you build the box inside the trunk you might be able to squeeze a couple 15s in there. I'm not sure though so I'll let someone else with more experience chime in. It's really more about what you want, 8's can hit the low notes just the same as 18's. I would get an idea of how much space you have to work with and then go from there.
