Newbie here.

what are you looking to spend?
I'm willing to spend $2000 -$3000, as long as the sound is real clear. Thanks for all of the responses.

P.S.- to dude who wants beef- exit the thread, and next time remember to stay out of grown folk's conversations.Nah, just playin.

This is what you will need

Head unit

Amp(s)

Sub(s)

wiring-power,ground,speaker wire, remote, and rca's(simple to buy wiring kits)

box

You may also need a HO alternator and/or second battery

I would also recomend buying a set of components and putting them on an amp also

For your budget if you going to spend it all on spl you will need either 1 or 0 guage power and ground wire

For the subs and amps there are a LOT of choices

For cd players there are a LOT of choices

If you want clear sound first step would be to buy some componenets-the best way to find which ones you want are to listen to some in a local audio shop. Some decent brands that tend to be popular on this site are

CDT and Rainbow

You are going to want to stay away from mainstream company such as JL when buying speaker subs and amp because they will tend to be way over priced

For the subwoofer part you will have to give more detail about what you want. Are you looking for sq sql or spl. Also how much space do you have to fit a box and how many woofer did you want to go with?

After selecting your Headunit, speakers, and subwoofer, then I would look into amplifiers. As for Headunit I would look at Pionneer, Eclipse, or Kenwood

lets say you spend 2,500

500 for components and amp

200-300 for Head Unit

200-300 for wiring(w/o new alternator) I'm not sure how much alternators cost

that leaves you with 1,400 for subs and amps-which is going to be loud

Or you could spend more money on your components and go for a SQ setup. In that case I would recomend a single 12" woofer and some nice components

I'm still trying to understand the whole SQ/SPL thing(I've used the search feature). I'll definitely go and listen to some components as you suggested. Thanks for the price breakdown, that gives me a good idea of what to expect.

SQ is sound quality

spl is loud

SQL is sound quality loud(Subwoofer such as the IDMAX)-usualy more expensive

If you give me some more details on subwoofer size and how many I can show you some and let see what kind of good options you have.

Look into companies such as Soundplsinter and FI for some starting point-both soundsplinter and FI make mainly SQL subs which sounds like what you are looking for
