newbie from missouri

New here, but I have lurked around for a while. I am from Missouri and I am going to build a new system for my 97 ***** Am, so I will have questions that I am sure have been asked a million times, so please don't flame me for asking. My head unit in it crapped out and I am really leaning toward one of the new mechless head units from Kenwood, but as far as amps and speakers, I just don't know yet.
