I have completed the installation of my new audio system and I have a few questions.
The installation
Head unit: Full Bandwidth Power (at less than 1% THD): 22W x 4.
Head unit powers the front and rear speakers.
Amp: 4Ch amp set to 2Ch mode. 400W x 2Ch.
RCA inputs are connected to the head units Sub Woofer output.
Amp powers the two 10” Subs. Each sub is bridged connected to a channel.
Sub box is in trunk.
1. Head unit has a built in amp. The instructions say turning off the built in amp
enhances the preout quality. Should I leave it on or turn it off?
2. Should I aim the subs toward the passenger compartment or the rear of the car?
3. What would be the best place to start with the adjustments to complement my installation?
4. What do these adjustments do?
Head unit adjustments
Front high pass filter - Through/80/100/120/150/180 Hz
Rear high pass filter - Through/80/100/120/150/180 Hz
Low pass filter - 60/80/120/ Through Hz
Subwoofer Phase – Reverse (180 deg) / (0 deg)
Amp adjustments
Front end defeat – Bypasses signal processing circuitry
Crossover
Filter switch – puts amp into All Pass mode preventing any crossover adjustments
Frequency Switch – switches between High pass/Low pass mode
Multiplier Switch – Sets multiplier for crossover frequencies x1/x10 x10 sets the
adjustment to 50 – 5000Hz
Frequency Adjustment
Gain
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
