im in the process of starting some research for some subs, im pretty new with car audio so please bare with me

i currently have an old xplod 444 amp, which i believe can be bridged to about 130W x 2, i would like to get two 10s for my car

here is where i need help, im looking at rockford P2D410 or an alpine type s, would my amp be enough to push these subs or do you have other recommendations for me

i was told some different info about how much power i need for the subs, i heard that you only need to put out half the RMS from the amp and ive also been told that i should have at least the full RMS

thanks for your help in advance

you really need 400-500 watts to get a couple of subs going, you may want to look in the for sale thread and look for a small class D amp and use the sony for the mids and highs for now

check this link out, there is a Zapco that is a decent price that would suit your needs pretty well. (I don't know the seller) i jsut thought you could get an idea of whqt is available for a reasonable price.

ok i figured i wouldnt be able to do much with this xlpod amp, but right now im really stretched for cash and would like to have a little something extra in the car

so how about two of these with my amp, they are only 150RMS and i just looked again and the amp output is only 80x2 (yeah i know pathetic) so this would be a set up that would at least sound decent right?

4 channel amp??

or is it a two channel that you can bridge???

if you can bridge it, get one descnt 10 that will have more power running to it, rather then 2 10's with no power running to them.

If you want a pair of ten to run off of that power look into a pair of Resonant Engineering RE10s. There are usually some on eBay. They only need 175 rms each. But your power situation is meager, especially since that Sony amp most likely does not do rated power. Please consider a small Kicker amp or something of that nature; they can be found in the classifieds.

wait, i know what amp you mean now. that was being sold at canadian tire years ago. i dont think that would be very good for runing a couple of subs dude. try to get a nicer 2 channel, or even better a mono class d, with a half descent 10. With a better amp, you will always have "room to grow"
