Mounting depth.

its a whole number of things.

1. the new XXX weighs loads. so get those thick slabs of MDF ready

2. it will swallow up several k with ease. so get that big, expensive amp ready. while you're at it, get teh 0 gauge in there, and uprate your battery. split charge anyone?

all of those will cost you more money. and time. bigger, badder, more powerful amp, 0 gauge, some serious power supply, seriously heavy box and so on.

and all of that for what? to see a little more xmax? we already have subs that do 30mm one way linear that DONT need 2.5kRMS to get them to wake up.

No, they should be perfecting the practical limit before subwoofers become useless for 90% of consumers. Subs like the new Mag and Avalanche did that well, they offer W7-like excursion levels that don't need tons of power and don't sacrifice much SQ (All for excellent prices I might add.)

Thats what I think companies should be doing, unless of course they can make something clearly superior and almost as practical. Why? Because they want to move to more of a dealer network, and won't undercut said dealer network by selling direct to someone with a dealer in their area? Why shouldn't they care more about the dealer? You're not selling their products, increasing their profits on a larger scale. The dealer is.

They can go ahead and try to acquire all the dealers they want, whats dealer cost on a xxx? Maybe I'm incorrect but I believe the xxx will be about as much as a dub7 through a dealer. 99% of consumers would take the w7 without hesitation, but I know you know that(as well as most others). I totally agree... you can't undercut your dealer, then you would have no dealer. Seems they do fine selling direct to me, but maybe not. It also seems they have enough trouble supplying the currenty demand. What's gonna happen if their orders triple? Maybe this is why they moved a while back, because they were planning this. Hopefully they have some more employees on the way as well. Shit, when I was browsing a shop in omaha for the hell of it, I could have bought a 10w7 for $400. I just doubt there is much room for re dealers to go lower than the price listed, and make it worth while.
