I already know I will most likely receive much thrashing because my setup does not include any brands such as Sundown, FI, DD, AQ, blah blah, but I just wanted a decent daily setup in my truck.
Here's a "diagram" of what I am currently running, the vehicle is a '94 Mazda B4000 Ext Cab.
I just recently bought the JVC HU, and still have just under 2 months to return it to Crutchfield if I don't like it... I mainly bought it because it came with free 5-way 6x9s I could throw in my other vehicle.
Before I get people telling me I wasted money, I don't have much invested in this setup really:
PPI Amp = $75
MTX Amp = $50
Kicker Subs/Box = $75
Pioneer 6x8s = $110
JVC HU = $160
So right now I'm only sitting on a $470 investment, I do need to get better wire though, so will be right around $500. And for what I paid, it sounds fairly crisp on the highs/mid (running direct off HU, haven't hooked amp up yet), and the subs have a nice kick which isn't real sloppy for being ported.
The main thing I would like to improve on though, is the subs don't have much in the way of ultra low response. Would these Kickers do any better in a tuned box, or are they pretty much as good as they'll get in the Kicker enclosure?
This is really my first decent sounding system since I was in high school in the late 90s.. So I am way behind on all the new stuff out there.
