Look into the imagedynamics ID8v.3. With 17mm of xmax, its a cool little driver. Id seriously consider an array of them if I were building a new setup toay.

eD is a company with a past of being shady and flat out lying to try and get our money. Would I recommend eD to a friend? Hell no.
Do yourself a favor, avoid the headache and the constant defending of a company not worth defending, dont buy eD products. There are plenty of other top-quality american manufacturers to chose from (ImageDynamics, FI, SS, etc), why chose to buy from a company with such a checkered past?

Stay away from eD. They will bend you over and chance they get.

FI doesn't make an 8"

SS's rl-i is a little pricy.

ID IDv3 is close to $99

If money was not an issue, I would chose the rl-i.

Since money is the issue, I think you could go with eD

Since you are familair with Cerwin Vega, they have some 8s on eGay that are pretty cheap. No one has tested them AFAIK and it looks to be a pretty good buy. I think HED or something is the model number.
