Okay;
$300
First things first. Need a good headunit;
Check out the Premier line from Pioneer, Alpine's better decks, Eclipse units.
Avoid sony, blau, other cheapies with flashing lights.
Pick one with good equalization adjustments and high-voltage preouts (4+ volts)
$200 Second things second; Interior front speakers.
Need a good component set. I'm a fan of CDT, but admittedly haven't used a whole lot of other mids.
Avoid cheapie brands; Kole, PowerAcoustik, Sony.. you'll find in audio that generally speaking, the flashier and more bling a product is, the more it sucks at doing it's job.
Pick a set with passive crossovers.
$600 Third, Amps!
There are a zillion good amps. Have a look, and choose wisely.
http://realmofexcursion.com/ampguts
Pick a 2-channel and a monoblock.
$500 Fourth: subwoofers!
Again, a zillion quality subwoofers out there. http://realmofexcursion.com has videos of every subwoofer you can think of.
The bling rule applies; choose a subwoofer (or multiple) that makes good use of your amplifier's stable impedance. Learn how to wire them.
$~100 Fifth: Subwoofer Box.
Use one of the designers here or on cajunkyard.com - do not go buy a piece of shit from the audio shop.
$70 Power Wire and RCAs
Buy them from http://KnuKonceptz.com End of story.
There. That'll get you started making a bunch of threads about amplifiers, speakers, subwoofers, crossovers, power wire, headunits, and hamster olympics.
