New to car audio, some advice please.

New to the board, new to car audio!

I am looking to put a system in my 2003 350Z and was hoping you guys could help me out a bit. I am looking to spend around $2,000 - $2,500 (give or take).

So I pretty much need help from scratch. What brands should I be looking at? I've heard that the best thing for me to do is go and hear different components out and get what I like the most (which I plan on doing).

One of my main questions is, what is the difference in say getting a 12" sub versus two 10" subs? I like the bass to hit hard and clean. Would you guys recommend going with JL in this department or perhaps Kicker?

Same applies for the HU. I've been looking at the new Eclipse & Clarion HU's. Are they worth the money? They were priced at $559 and $599 respectively I believe. At least that was the retail price.

Also need plenty of help in the amp department as well as speakers.

go with the eclipse HU over the clarion, without a doubt.

one 12 JL w6v2 or 12 w7 would sound awesome if your going JL.

stay away from kicker IMO.

IDmax, SS rl-p, or an avalanche would all be awesome for you.

components, i like CDT alot, boston acoustics (z6), morel, illusion audio, focal are all awesome.

dont forget sound deadening!!

Thanks for the advice. What type of the amps should I be looking at? Also when you mention sound deadening .... is that so the car doesn't rattle on the outside?
