I just recently replaced the stock stereo in my car and now I am looking to get a subwoofer setup.

I was thinking about going with a pair of Kenwood Kfc-w12 12", which are 4ohm and 200 watts RMS.

Now I just need an amp. I was looking at maybe either a Crunch GPV1000.2 that I have heard before, except with a single speaker setup, or a Kenwood Kac-8105D. This will all be going in a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2 with a Pioneer DEH-4300UB head unit.

Which of these would be better for my intented setup?

Do I need a more powerful amp than 1000watts?

Will I need to replace the battery or get a capacitor?

What else should I know?

Eh. None of that gear is much good. Could you say a budget, and your goals? What do you want out of your set-up, what kind of music do you listen to?
As I said I'm new so I dont know what would even be a good budget, I dont really want to spend to much though. I listen to a lot of metal, specifically newer stuff that employs lower tuned guitars and bass drops, and some electronic stuff along the lines of dubstep/drum n bass. As I said I drive a small two door car so volume shouldnt be any issue.

kicker, Rockford fosgate kenwood 1800 watt is pretty good old school hifonics
i wouldn't buy any of this unless it was older stuff.120 shipped i'll send you my new audiopipe apsm 1300 1000 watt mono block amp. kenwood amps =junk all new fosgate except the power series ok but too expensive ,kicker is now china made and also too much money ,not as good as the older models.the audiopipe is a great amp ,does rated ,mini amp , and great price

You can go to e-bay and get a pair of those Lanzar MaxPro dvc 10s(like $80 shipped),and maybe like an old school 400 watt rms 4ohm stable mono amp/bridgable 2ch/4ch(JBL GTQ200-$100/GTQ400-$150),and poss. either build your box($50),or have one made???1- 8g amp wiring kit($20)???Pretty tight budget($300),but can be done.Just have to look around.I have used those subs before, and they do alot for the money!! That will get you banging for about $300 that I can think of without looking around.Check the forum classifieds also..may run across some good buys??

due i have the audiopipe amp and 2 fosgate old school dvc 10s i sell you for 320 shipped.then you'll have a decent set up ,you can get a knu 4 gauge amp kit i think for $30 on line and then you just need the box

You can buy some subs/a sub that will = to a 2ohm load, and I have several old school amps that i can sell pretty cheap that will be worth buying, and push those subs pretty hard??Or,I have that USA Us acoustics 2150 that in 4ohms at 12.9v is 500x1 for 130.00 shipped that will bang the crap out of those subs/,at 4ohms load mono without any issues, and its a ZED Made Amp!!Pm me,and I may have something that you may need???Doesnt hurt to ask man..Thanks

Buy a single sub. Like a Sundown SA-12 D4. Then get a amp that will put out about 1200 Watts at one ohm. The sub will run at 2 ohms and receive ~600 watts. Maybe a MB quartz 1500D. Then add a 2nd sub when you get the money. Or a SSA Dcon 12" D4 then get a amp that will put out about 600-800 at one ohm. The same thing here, this will allow you to buy a better sub, - and end up with a better system.

Don't forget that you need a box for the sub and a wiring kit. Can you install this your self? Can you build a box?

One last point, most companies have one type of products that they are great at. Like Kenwood and Pioneer make great HU's. but not so good at subs and amps.

Good luck,

Duane
