new to car audio need help picking and amp for new 2012 alpine type r 1000rms

Well then you're going to want a one ohm stable amp. It's either that or run it at 4 ohm and not get any power (you'd spend a lot trying to get an amp that does 1000 rms @ 4 ohm). What's your budget? Plenty of decent amps that will push this pretty inexpensively. By the way the Alpine amp you were looking at is only 2 ohm stable. The Hifonics on the other hand is one ohm stable. Just stay away from the HFI series Hifonics.

This is true. I have been looking into the Lanzar Opti lines and researching them. Far better specs than most other Class D monoblock amps in the same price ranges. They have always received good praise from those who have either used them or know someone who does...and like anything else, bad praise from the ignorant who associate the name with their lower cheap lines. BTW, if you are looking at HiFonics, look to the Gladiator, Brutus Elite or Mount Olympus lines...good amps for the $$.

okay also will i need to upgrade anything like my battery or alternator to handle and amp this big i have a 09 chrysler 300 with a jvc kw av60 headunit and all hids headlights dont want to drain the battery to much to where they start flashing..

Do a big 3 upgrade and a good deep cycle marine battery.

This is recommended no matter what amp you use that will feed that sub with any kind of decent power....with the ones I posted, you will be fine on the alt.

I have always had to do my own. I know from experience that some installers would look at you funny if you mention the big 3 wiring upgrade, lol. Call around because there are some who keep big wire and connectors ready for it. I do not know what it would cost to have a audio shop do it. With the battery in back, you will need a long run of 0 gauge or 1/0 gauge wire to ensure efficient power transfer to the battery.
