After this much time on the forum, you should know better than to say ported boxes lose SQ. A well-built, low-tuned ported box can give just as much SQ as asealed box while increasing the output
Yeah well I guess it would have to be professionally made, and tuned exactly. Im just not a big fan of messing with ports and tuning freq's and etc. I would just rather stick SQ subs in a well built sealed box for SQ.
But you are right.
I would personally rather have the Alpine. But it really depends on how much power you need at what impedence and what the price is. Your best bet is to pick a sub, then pick an amp to power it.
The one thing I will say is that if you buy either of those (or any other mono amp) you will have to buy another amp to power any aftermarket front speakers you buy. That ED amp is a really good deal because it will power your sub(s) and your fronts.
Makes a good point. I would def take the PDX over the hifonics straight up, but it all depends on what type of setup you are running. As said every detail matters.
what are comps and coaxes? if i get the setup u were talking abuot Hintz i will most likely get it installed at a local shop people tell me to stay away from places liek circuit city or Best Buy, when i bring it to a store that specializes in car audio will they know how to put the setup u put together the same way u were talking about it? Or will i have to tell them like what exactly i want them to do? in terms of specifics to make like my sub sound good.
Yeah some things you can do on your own, but some things you would probably want someone to help you do. I would recommend finding someone on this forum that would be willing to install your shit for you at a lower cost VS the dumbasses at best buy/circuit city etc. I work at tweeter and I know how everything works in our business, and our previous installers were CRAZY GOOD, however good installers are hard to find.
I don't think I've mentioned this yet, but you will definitely want to do some sound deadening as well. The cheapest GOOD deadening I've found is Raamat, which is $120 a roll (which should easily cover your trunk and doors). You might have to extend your budget just a bit, but it will be worth it. If you can't stretch the finances, then some basic Peal'n'Seal from Lowe's will work as a cheap alternative.
Sound deadening is a must if you really want quality. If you just want to get loud, you should probably just focus more into loud subs and big boxes. Or more powerful subs and small boxes, as said everything depends.
How would i have the enclosure built? Hell i might as well ask some dudes to help me just install my system for some cash haha, discounts anyone?* haha The Stuff u listed is that the best price u could find or will i be able to easily find even better prices?
building a box is not rocket science, however its not very simple either. You want to make sure you build it correctly so that your bass is clean and accurate. Dont want any holes, misaligned sides or fronts and etc. Also the look of the box is important too. How its carpeted etc.
btw my money is coming from the BAR junking my old camry 1990 for 1000 bucs yeeeeahh haha so i got some extra cash laying around so its not strictly 1000. btw if anyone in the San Diego area or around it is willing to help me out with building abox or putting my system together thatd be great message me or wutever
I would strongly recommend to learn from most of our mistakes that we all have pretty much made and just wait until you understand what you are buying, and how it works before you just buy stuff(which you already are doing now)
o and how easy is it to do deading and how much does it cost for them to do it at a shop? i should make a video of my pro stock speakers in my Corolla ^_^ haha my trunk is like a box initself which is why i think sometimes it sounds like a got a sub in the back haha
Deadening is not easy when you are doing it for your first time, again though it is not rocket science. It really is simple...Just put material on metal(or whatever surface) and close all holes so your lower end frequency's are much more accurate... their is alot more detail into this but.. yeah.

Hintzboy has REALLY taken some good time to recommend you some good information etc, and so have I. I know you only have like 30 posts, but just keep asking questions... more so of how do things work, not what should I buy. You really need to understand how all of this stuff works if you want to save money and get some good stuff. Unless your a rich kid and just want everything installed asap and dont care...which doesnt seem like you are.
Also I would highly look at your cars electrical system. If you are going for SPL, you ARE going to NEED to do the "big 3" undeneath your hood, which is upgrading the 3 main wires underneath your hood, Alt+ to Bat +, Bat - to chassis, and Bat - to engine. Will increase voltage, which increases current flow and efficency and etc etc.
