Im new to this stuff so bear with me:confused:. the equipment i have so far is a 10'' MTX thunder 4000 sub, kenwood 529s 250w amp, and a peripheral sven2 LOC. I got all of these free from different resources.

What i want to know is what does a remote wire for the amp do/ how does it work?

Is the LOC i have any decent?

Are the RCA cables for a DVD player the same as the ones you use for car audio?

What gauge power wire do i need for my amp and what size fuse?

and, is my amp sufficient enough to run my sub?

any input is much appreciated.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thankyou.gif.5451126d09e870f796f50c3a4dd5acd7.gif

Welcome spuds

RCA's as you will read and educate yourself are for audio or video, they are the same as the ones used for audio in a dvd player.

Power wires is all depandant on how much power your amps have in output,

1 gauge requires a certain fuse

4 gauge requires i beleive 125 etc

8 gauge has another requirement, keep in mind fusing the wire is to protect the wire, not the amplifier, the amplifiers have their own built in fuses.

the remote runs from the blue/white wire off your head unit to your amp. its meant so your amp isnt constantly runnin when your cars off. your rcas will work either way for ya. a 4 gauge wire would be plenty for that setup. when it comes to the inline fuse, you always want to have the amperage of your inline fuse AT LEAST match the amperage of your fuses in your amp......example..... if your amp has 2 20 amp fuses in it, your going to want to run AT LEAST a 40 amp inline fuse.your amp is ok to run that sub. good probably be better, but you gotta work with what ya got so youll be good....good luck bro-----Rob

my amp has a single 30amp fuse. Im not using an aftermarket head unit so im stuck with a LOC due to funds, but im pretty sure it has a remote. Im pretty familiar with basic electrical so i think with the info i have now i can set it up
