hey guys,
So i've always had a sub/amp combination in all of my vehicles. I've installed them all on my own; nothing too exotic or elaborate. Currently, in my 2015 GMC Sierra, I have:
- 2x RF P3SD2-12 shallow mount subwoofers
- 1x RF R1200-1D wired at 2-ohms, 800w RMS
- PAC PDLC21 digital LOC
- Subthump dual 12" downfire box w/ amp rack in the middle
- Lightning Audio 4 gauge wiring kit for the amp
I'm currently looking into options for adding a second amp/speakers to replace the factory door speakers. My system is the non-bose, so they're just pretty quiet. I'd like them louder & more clear to go with the bass from the subwoofer thats in place. With this being said, i'm totally new to aftermarket speakers/adding a second amp. Here are my thoughts based off of what I've read:
- coaxial is closest to what comes in the truck factory, and since i've added a subwoofer for the low notes, i'd get better sound quality/more customization options by going with component speakers, they're just more expensive? Is this accurate?
- I'm totally in the dark as far as aftermarket speaker brands go -- I know the mainstream name brands, but I'd like to get off the beaten path if someone can recommend some brands that are known for good quality while not breaking the bank?
- I'm looking to stay around $200 per pair for the speakers, and another couple hundred for the additional 4-channel amp to power said speakers. I know the fronts are 6x9's and the rears are 6.5" for the 2015 GMC Sierra. Also, i know i'll need a larger LOC to convert the signal? Based on reviews and ease of use, i'm looking at the AudioControl LC6i. Anything else I need to consider?
