hey guys i'm new to the forum. been snoopin around for a while though. I just started to put together my system and I ran into a few problems. First it all started with a kicker l7 15" and a dx 1000.1 amp, then I bought a kicker l7 12" with a kenwood kac-104D, and now I am going to purchase an audioque hdc315 copper coil sub.

Now of course My stock 80 amp alternator cannot handle the load that I wish to put on it. So my first question is does anyone know if their is a high output alt out there for a 99 ford ranger 4.0L? My second question is what is a good amp for that audioque 15? Nothing too expensive but still pushes it nicely. And the last and final question... what do you guys think that I be getting decibel wise? I know that its hard to guess that but any input is much appreciated. Please bear with me I am very new to car audio. thanks

...I'm sure they make an HO alt for you, give DC power a call, or Ohio Gen for the higher ended ones. I would however recommend that you do your big 3 and change out your battery with something better before resorting to a whole alt swap. How many watts are you planning on running?

Ok yeah, do the alt swap just do your research and make sure they people who are making it are pretty legit, there are alot of HO horror stories about low idle amperage and going bad after a few years. The people I mentioned above are some of the best IMO, but I still hold that your going to need to replace your hood battery and do a big 3 otherwise your going to choke hold your current flow and the best alt in the world wont help

Agreed,//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif You may even be able to find a local alt rebuild shop that can build you one within the existing casing, and retrieve a warranty as well? As for an amp to push that 15..Id check the Classifieds out, and what is your budget for an amp??Might want to check out some of the Sound Stream Rubicon Mono blocks as well..IMO, some come with a 2yr warranty:D

Well I found a 250 amp alternator from db electrical... anyone know anything about 'em? good? bad? And I decided to go with another dx1000.1 amp, I can get a 2011 brand new one for 230 bucks. I have one already and I just love it. It pushes my l7 fifteen like no tomorrow.
