New System Opinion

Im thinking about running 2 JL W7 13.5's with two Jl 1000/1 v2 amps and i was wondering if i would need any more than a second battery(big like kinetic 2400), ill prob run a 15 farad cap too, and i think my audi A6's alternator is 120amps, can my car handle runnning those or should i get more batts, or a HO alternator? or possibly downgrade to just 12" W7's, shoot me some opinions

First of all I think we need to talk abour your budget and your goals. Do you only want to be loud as all hell? Do you want a pristine sounding system? Do you want a combination of both? Any reason you selected JL as your choice of amps and subs? Is this a show car or is it for being loud as hell every day and minute your in it? I really dont have a budget it just depends on how long it takes me to get everything lol, but i want it to be loud as hell is kind of what im looking for, i mean i want them to sound decent too, so kindof a mix of both but im more geared towards SPL. I chose JL because ive went to a few places and looked at the W7's and they seemed like a **** nice sub, maybe i need to do more looking, thats what opinions are for. Close to Dubuque,Iowa

If your willing to pay that much... you'll have a nice system for sure. Forget jl tho

Look around a little, choose each component wisely with alot of education and some listening if possible.

oh yeah, stay away from best buy and capacitor

Well i would go with some dd9500, or fi btl. 12's or 15's. a couple ap30001d amps, couple c+d batts, then some rainbow components, with a good 2ch amp to power them. start with a good hu like apline 9886, thats just some ideas.

Lows: I'd run a pair of RD Audio Elite 12"s on a Sundown SAZ-2000D.

Comps: I'd run Rainbow Germ 6.5"s on a Sundown SAX-125.2.

Deadener: Dynamat Extreme.

Batt: Kinetik HC3800

you will be suckered into having 2 12s. but you dont have to have elites, you could go with alphas, or sonaces from RD, or 2 Fi BLs, even 2 Sundown Nightshades. Any of those subs off of that 2000D or any other equivalent amp in the correct box tuned around 36hz will give you what you are looking for.

The guy was talking about W7's, and that usually means that he's a little misinformed on just how good those subs sound. The Elite 12"s are pure secks, and they're cheaper than W7's. That's the only reason I mentioned them.

But you're right. There are a hundred excellent options if he chooses to roll with the Sundown amp...

$4,000 is much more than the average person will spend, but it's not super impressive in the grand scheme of things.

There are guys who spend that kind of cash on electrical upgrades and building supplies alone...

Considering power, electrical upgrades, sound deadening, and misc things, it can get expensive..good point

how about a sundown 2000D powering a RE XXX 18"? that would be better than two subs in the right enclosure wouldn't it? and my cars an Audi A6 so i have a pretty big trunk
