Hey guys! I'm not totally new to car audio but I haven't been heavily into it for the past 3-4 years like I used to be. I've done a little research lately so I should be able to hang with ya if you suggest stuff, etc. Anyways, I recently sold my truck and had 2- DD 3510d's w/ 2 Power Acoustik a3000db's in a 3 cu. ft ported box, components, component amp, blah blah. So...I picked up a new car (04 Acura TL) and I'm selling/sold all my other equipment and I'd like to go a different route in this car. I didn't want to be insanely loud and have a huge box in the trunk, etc...plus my amps were going south slowly. I'd like to do a sub, 4-channel amp, and 6.5" components in the TL but I'd like some help deciding what sub to go with for my needs. My needs...I think its only logical to say that since I don't want to be loud, and it'd be pointless to be "kinda" loud and have terrible SQ, i'd like to put something together that has great SQ but can extend and hit those lows when I need. I might have been spoiled with the DD's but I'm hoping I can get better SQ (even though the DD's were pretty **** good I thought) while retaining the low end. I just want a nice blend that when your listening to rock, rap, country, etc...just sounds great!! but can still hit those low-hz notes in rap, etc.
My buddy has a little Phoenix Gold 4:0.2 component amp if I wanted that but I figure it'd be better to get a quality/powerful 4-channel to drive components and 1 sub. This is where I'd like yalls help...should I go with a 12" or 10"? In all honesty, would it be better if I picked up a sub amp and drove 2 10's and used that little 2-channel amp to drive my components? I mean would it really make huge difference with low RMS subs to have 2 instead of 1 for a SQ setup that can hit lows.
My thoughts on subs: (I'd like to keep the sub under $150ish)
- Sundown SA
- Audioque SDC
- SSA dcon
- FI Q (not sure if this is in my price range though)
Any others??
Sorry for the long read, I got carried away haha. I know I'm gonna have a hell of a rattling problem no matter what b/c these TL's trunks can be crazy (rattles with the little free-air 8" in there now). Hopefully all of my post made sense...I just feel my best/cheapest option is to go with 1 sub, 4-channel amp, and a set of components. Thoughts? Comments? Thanks guys!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/toast.gif.bc0657bf54b9ee653b6438524461341e.gif
