Not sure about this setup I'm buying. Any advice?

So I just got my first car n I want to add some bass to it. But I'm on a budget. So I went to this local audio shop and the guy told me he could hook me up with a Memphis audio street edge 12" sub and a porter box n an amp. I didn't really pay attention to the brand of amp but I saw it was a 1,400 watt amp n he said it would put out about 450 rms at 2ohms. He said that it would drive the sub good. I have all the wires needed so he said he'd give me the setup for 250 with instalation. It sounds like a good deal to me but I was wondering if there's anything cheaper out there. Any advice or suggestions? I have an 86 Acura integra hatchback so I don't need toooo much bass

u need to go back and get some infor as fair as what sub is it, what amp it is and some info about the box. u wana ask what it is tune to and if he says its a premade box its gona b tune on the higher side. looks like your gona get like a 40.00 sub a 25.00 box a 50.00 amp . u might have a hard time geting a sub/box/amp and have it put in for 250.00 at another shop. look to see if there is anyoneon here that can help with the instal. for 250 u might b able to put together a better amp/sub combo.

Ya I'm not too worried about the install. I can do that myself he just said he'd do it for free. I been looking online a lot but I'm not sure what sub/amp combo I should get and on a budget. N I don't really know too much about the tuning for the box. How many hertz should it be tuned to?

It's a MemphiS audio street edge 12" sub. It's rated at 100/200 watts. But I heard the sub can handle more power than that. N I don't think he would sell me an amp that would over power the sub. I just went to him cause my friend goes thru him a lot an he hooks uup my friend

watch what you buy . This audio eqe, you do get what you pay for .. You buy cheap = you get junk .

Look for some good use eqe for that price range .

see what he would charge for just the sub and box and amp. can he show u one of thoae subs in use? im just thinking your gona get some bs set up thats worth no more then 125.00. u might as well go on ebay and get a audopipe set up and put it in your ride.

Ya Ima ask him if I can hear it first. I think Ima go talk to him some more today. I was looking online n all these set ups r like at least $300 n he said 250 I just thought it would be a good deal. Thanks for the advice tho

like he said if it sounds good and he is gona put it in why give it a try. its your first set up right? just see where the box is tune to. if he does not know they i would say its a prefab box around 40hz or so.

Ya I'll check out thoseMB QUARTS. I talked to him and he's sayn the Memphis street edge would have to be a 10" or he could give me some generic sub that's a 12" for the same price. Or for $300 he would give me two Sony Xplods that r 10" I beleive. I also talked to another shop n for $250 he could give me a JL audio 12" sub that's like 150 rms and a 800 watt amp n box n install. I'm not sure which deal I should take. Or I was thinking about buying two 12" kicker comps off crutchfield or somethibg n just getting a box n amp from the shop
